Area 6 continues to do the work of Civitan as the conditions allow.
The Four Oaks Club is at a standstill with its sports program since they have not been able to get on the field since mid-March. However, they applied for a County Land Use Grant and was awarded $15,000.00. This money will be used to create a new soccer field.
The Kinston Club has been keeping up with its membership through email, text, and Zoom. The club is working with the local RADD agency to create the Beach Bash for July. July is used as our vacation month, but this project will go on. The District projects of Special Olympics, Duke Child Development, and Boys and Girls Home were also supported.
Karen Smith, President, and the Winterville Club are in the process of planning a Beach Bash with a few of the local group homes. The club has just completed a 5K run in support of Riley’s Army, a local agency for children with pediatric cancer. Members were able to run (walk) alone, in small groups, and some even rode their bikes. Junior Civitan was also supported through Dance-A thon. Support was also given to Rebuilding together (renovation of homes in the community), Special Olympics and Duke Child Development Center.
